Opening Times                      What is the Youth Cafe?
The Youth Cafe is located in The Concourse, which is situated to one side of the historic church building and opens directly onto London Street.  It provides an attractive venue which, because the internal space is visible from the street, is perceived as being non-threatening. Those who attend as customers clearly value the facility highly, and the staff are equally positive.
There is an exciting menu and pupils and students from secondary schools and colleges in the area are welcomed to a place especially for them.  The aim is to provide a safe environment in which the needs of the young people can be met. The menu is tailored to their tastes and budget and is presented in an un-pressured Christian atmosphere. The Youth Cafe is staffed by an enthusiastic team of volunteers from churches of several denominations in and around Basingstoke under the guidance of a paid manager.  There is no shortage of volunteers or customers. An average of 20-40 young people attend on each day.

to the Community Youth Cafe

A recent meeting of church youth workers in Basingstoke identified this project as the most significant piece of outreach to young people in the town. The cafe serves the whole community, is fully inclusive and people with special needs may be found among both customers and volunteer staff. Opportunities are also provided for people to gain work experience.
